The VSDEPLOYABLECAM is a self-contained, battery-powered camera. The 4 internal C-size batteries allow up to 6 months of standby operation. In standby mode only the passive IR detector is operational. When the camera detects movement it will power on the image sensor and record either images or video to the installed memory card.

The camera can accept up SDHC memory cards up to 32GB (Class 10 or higher recommended). The camera comes standard with a mini-USB cable and TV-out cable for viewing footage. It also comes with a variety of mounting options including a strap for pole or tree mounting, a camera bracket that fits to the tripod nut with screws included.

Ideal uses for the camera are:
- As a wildlife or trail camera. The camera records temperature and lunar phase information, which is overlaid on the recordings.
- As a temporary security camera. The quick mounting options allows the camera to be installed with minimal effort, making it great for construction and other project sites.
- As a long term security camera for remote sites. The long standby time makes the camera ideal for locations that may go months with out being attended, such as farm gates in remote locations.
